UPDATED! Storm Trooper build. Haswell.

*UPDATED PICTURES ADDED TO THIS POST*
*Added 2 7950 boost editions*

So, Haswell is here and I decided it is time for some upgrades.

I did want a ROG board but ASUS are taking way too long to release their boards and I grew too impatient, but... Some pictures was uploaded on the Facebook page of the Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H with the new Corsair Vengeance Pro and it just looked so damn good! So yeah :p

As I said, this isn't a fresh build but an upgraded one. As for the case, I would like something new, I really likethe Corsair 750D but I am happy with this case and it wouldn't be a worthwhile upgrade.

Here is a a link to my old Rig Gallery. (first time build, it's kinda ugly to be fair).

Anyway, here is the updated rig and I do apologise for the camera quality on some of the pictures, some was taken with my HTC 8X.

I do plan on removing that drive bay and adding a 3rd AF120 when I get a drive bay cover... If anyone can see some way to improve the looks, please do tell ^_^

Specs:

  • Intel i5 4670k
  • XFX 7950 Boost X-Fire
  • Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H
  • 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133MHz
  • OCZ ZT 750W
  • Mushkin Chronos 120GB
  • WD Caviar Blue 640GB
  • CM Storm Trooper
  • H100i (push pull)

I try to do decent cable management around the back and it NEVER goes my way

Now a couple shots of my mouse, headset and monitor, never took any of keyboard... Just as well as it is an old wireless HP one but you just get use to some things, same with the mouse, it's years old.

That looks killer. I'm thinking of switching from the whole red LED fans thing (got the same case) at some point in the future, just doesn't look as subtle and sleek as something like this.

please do change the orientation of your AIO radiator so the tubes stop blocking/cut the RAM view[Looks too good for that to be in the way]!

Besides that little point, very sleek :)

great idea with the different colored ram
looks fantastic, also great cable management

Pure awesomeness... Congrats!

P.S. Remember to upgrade the cpu-z validation link on your signature ;)

This.... Looks REALLY good!
Thank you very much

very nice mate
Thanks man

If your system ever gets a baby, call me! I'd happily adopt it!
I really like it mate
Haha will do and thanks for the compliments mate

I didn't want to block the exhaust fan but I'm still considering it and thanks

that looks sweet!!!

hows the noise level?
28dB on idle and 41dB gaming, not sure how accurate this app is though
Idle: I run the 4x AF120 at 60% (2 on the side and 2 on the front). 2x AF140 (exhaust and PSU) at 100% and the push pull 2x SP120L and 2x SP120 on the lowest possible setting (hardly even spinning). XFX DD card at 20%.
Gaming: Same as above but the H100i fans on 40% and XFX DD card at 50%

Looks fantastic!
Thank you

that ram and motherboard go so well together
Did you make that combination because of ttl's video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtJJTo7OM1k
Yes, indeed I did

The different colored ram wasn't my idea but yeah it looks really good
As for cable management, that is the thing I spend most my time doing when putting together a rig, heh

Very Sleek, excellent build mate...
Thanks mate

I think I might leave the 5.1GHz Sandy up for a while until I get something nice from this, might have to delid this Haswell chip though for 5GHz+ that's if it is even possible, Tom mentioned doing it to his 4770K in one of his videos so I'll wait until he does that. I hope he does

Can I ask why the fan on the psu? but otherwise... sh*t... this rig is breathtaking!

A new PSU will be in there first week of August as will a 2nd graphics card. The reason the fan is there is due to the fact the stock one broke  and instead of putting a new one in, I though... I'll put it on. Not to everyones liking but it'll do. Thanks for the compliment ^_^

Love the idea of the XFX, Red and silver Vengance ram and corsair fans. It goes really well together with the Gigabyte Z87. Looks nice well done!
