Stop antivirus deleting USB files

@ College Sophos automatically deletes a main file for 1.6 HLDS (server hosting for counter strike 1.6)

It says it is infected with malware but the file deleted is safe and nothing dodgy.

Any apps to protect files on USB pen from OS alterations?

Cheers

Not sure you can do much, other than setting the usb stick to read-only (some have a lock switch) or getting into sophos to set an ignore list.

I'd guess you'd need read+write access to run the server tho so read-only probably wouldn't work. Also the antivirus would just stop it from executing by denying access to the infected file :(

I will point out sophos is a horribly un-customisable piece of uselessness.

That's why education bodies love it.

I too would say try read only, but that might stop it working.

I've had sophos on this machine - uni gives it out free - and it never detected and 1.6 stuff as a virus. It's probably because it tries to run a server.

Best thing you could do is get a laptop with it on, or find a privalidged username, as they are sometimes immune to AV scans

We cant connect external machines into the system - and im not going to try :p

Its specifically an admin.dll file within the platforms/admin folder.

Making launch of HLDS impossible.

We cant start a server from within the game - well most people can join but random accounts show the "invalid cd key" error. Using HLDS can remove this problem by turning off anti cheat/VAC - Unless there is a way to turn off anti cheat by console?
