SteamOS now available!

SteamOS is not for the regular user as of now. Its only for the people who really know how debian works etc. Valve have stated that you should not download it if you are not technically inclined to software. Just so y'all know.
Then again most people here posting in the thread already know a lot about linux anyway, so download away:p

ya iv never messed with linux but if steam os turns out to be a solid os for gaming and such ill gladly stick it to microsoft any only get steam os for the new pc

Since I just installed Debian 7, I don't think I'll bother with SteamOS for the moment tbh, given its based on Debian 7 anyway.

I've got my standard extremely minimial install up and running on my secondary rig again. <100MB of RAM used when it's idle. Lighter than my phone's implementation of Android. ^_^

If you're having trouble with SteamOS, regular Debian is an alternative for the moment. Just install that and put Steam on it. Plus you'll have Debian's huge >30000 package repo open to you aswell. Also it'll get around the fact that SteamOS hasn't support for AMD cards too, you'll be able to install fglrx no problem or just use the open source AMD drivers.
