Steam Cloud Rolling in This Week

Could end up being a real pain in the arse, you allow a mate to play one of your games (say you logged on at his place) and he doesn't like your control setup so changes it, this now means when you get home to play yourself all your controls are changed :s

so it just syncs your control settings? that seems... a little over announced :S

not to mention if u wanted to play your own games at a mates house, it takes hours to download the games at any rate :S seems odd to me, but steam can't be faulted i guess...

except they seem to charge more for a game with no box in some / most cases

I`m not totally clued up on Steam, as it`s always sounded a bizarre way of doing things unnecessarily and stayed as far as possible from it. Sure some games have installed with it, but I`ve tended to block the upd8 and auto-stuff as much as I can.

But, if u get something through Steam, and I correct in thinking, with this in mind, that u can log into it on any computer and download whatever u have already purchased as many times as u like ? Otherwize, why would u want ur setting preference to travel with u.

To that extent; buy something, set it up on ur pc. Goto ur "brothers" pc (that u installed OS) and download the same thing ?

Cept u would be arguing over settings ?

Seems weird to me, or I`m not understanding downloading games through steam.

Steam rocks, used to think it was crap, but I figured out it's actually a step in the right direction in most cases. Using my Uni conn, i just download stuff direct but before when I was at home I bought the games on DVD i.e. the Orange Box and then just installed them direct from the disc. It doesn't put any Copy Protection crap, it simply gets around this by only allowing one login on your account at any 1 time so you can't give the games for free.

I'm not sure how useful this Cloud will be but I don't think it will detract from the user experience, it just seems like a little update that doesn't really need a launch.

BTW, Audiosurf is just $2.50 on Steam this week because they updated the shop, it's an absolute steal for that price I find it great fun to mess around on. :)
