Stay AWAY from Scan

We see posts like this all the time from people who have had bad experiences with many component outlets, this certainly isn't the first time for Scan!

I've repeatedly had good service from Scan, but on one occasion I did have to lightly persuade them to re-issue a broken mobo (that was several years ago now though).

Either way I think that it's important that these threads continue to be written and I'm sure they don't go unnoticed by the wider audience who visits these forums, or even by the companies themselves.

That said, the vast majority of transactions with Scan probably go through without a hitch, so I think we should be a little bit reasonable and try to avoid topics with "OMG DON'T BUY FROM SCAN THEY MURDER KITTENS!111!!!1!!!" as a title. And that's not aimed at anyone in particular btw, just that I've noticed a bit of a trend and I think that this site is a little bit more mature than that and better for it

You will always get people with good and bad experiances. I havent had a single problem from scan. I built a PC for someone. After 2 weeks, somthing weant wrong I figured out it was the MB causing the issue. I sent the motherboard to them on the monday, By wednesday. i had the new motherboard installed and a friends PC back up and running.

I have had alot more trouble with companeys like Novatech, for their 28 day RMA service

Everyone has a different experiance. I will say to the OP though, that a thread stating NEVER TO BUY FROM SCAN, a little on the harsh side, if they indeed did not fined any folt with the HDD.

I guess its all down to the personal experiance.
 
I have bought nearly all my gear from Scan and had no dramas that I can recall, and this over teh past 7 years or so, maybe longer although don't quoote me. I suppose from the millions of transactions they make some are going to be shipped and gather faults in postage. I feel your frustration as i would be the same but....

I also notice that another post in June saying stay away from Scan was by yourself (Blair) and that you would never buy again from them, seems like you did and have been unlucky a second time, just wondering if you have real bad luck with them matey?

Either way I am glad it is sorted and hope all get the service they pay for who ever you order from, its the least we deserve.

and to think I only came on here to rant about my lack of hot water, no heating and leaky boiler ON CHRISTMAS DAY!!!!!!
