State of the Market

I'm feeling quite annoyed with the monitor market at the moment. 1440p seems to be skipped straight onto 144hz 4k monitors. This doesn't make sense because you need multiple 1080ti's to get a decent FPS on it but not all games support SLI. We're looking at another 2 generations before a single GPU solution will be able to run 4k 144hz HDR to it's full potential.

A 32 inch, 1440p, 144hz, IPS, G-Sync, Ultrawide, HDR monitor is exactly what gamers want right now as a single 1080ti will run it perfectly but manufacturers aren't listening.

What are your thoughts? Would you love a monitor with the specs listed above?

Look at 27". Most people are still at 24" 1080p, so i think that a jump to 32" is to big for most people. I have a 27" 1440p, an i think its the sweet spot for 27". And going to 32" 4K is probably better. But as you mention. 4K is not ready yet in terms of performance :)

I think you underestimate how costly it is to provide all those features you want. IPS monitors right now don't really reach 144hz unless they are overclocked, which is of course fine, but something I am not keen on. Anyway, there are already a number of monitors that fulfill what you want but at high cost.

But also, how do you know what gamers want? You are most likely thinking of the hardcore gamer/enthusiast. The casual main stream gamer, "in my opinion" would be happy with a non freesync/Gsync 1080P at most 27inch screen. Some even preferring 1440p. Demand wise I cannot think of many posts to this day of those wanting an ultrawide screen over 27inch or lower. Manufacturers cater for the mainstream market mainly.

I have the Rog Swift IPS widescreen with Gsync with 100hz max refresh and I wish I stuck with my 27inch TN panel. It's nothing special, takes up too much desk space and overclocking refresh produces scanlines in RTS/MMO games. I noticed same with the AOC IPS equivalent. Scanlines are not distracting or an eye sore, its just noticeable thats all.
