I haven't look too deep into the canon, but, if Vader died, and the Sith work in '1 Master > 1 Apprentice' mode only.. aren't the Sith, like, dead?

Ever heard of the star wars rule? One Sith Lord, One Apprentice.

In regards to subs question though. Vader was the apprentice of Palpatine who was the sith lord.
