I have all the Stalker games but never game them a proper try apart from the first which coincided with Vistas Games For Windows Live so I only ended up using it as a benchmark ^_^

One of the few games for me that has conjured up a true sense of atmosphere, as well as a true sense of danger. Like when you venture off and get a bit far you feel like you are really pushing things. That abandoned farm etc. Just awesome. Very few games do that for me.
Now if they can do that without it being a beautiful broken mess? I'm in.

Even if it is a bit of a broken mess, I gaurantee the modding community will fix it like a lot have with some of the original trilogy's issues.
I do agree about atmosphere, it felt surreal when I went to the zone and Pripyat a couple of years ago due to my experience with the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series

No X-Ray engine!? Not sure I'm a fan of that idea, the engine made the trilogy what it is. The constant bugs from prefetch stutter which forced you to walk everywhere to the endless "X-Ray engine has stopped working" crash, it's the only game I loved to hate. One thing's for sure is that with the UE4 engine mods are going to be impressive.

Like Mark said in the article, it would be that there's no one available to develop the engine. iirc the team who worked on X-Ray went to 4A to make their engine for Metro which is why people claimed the 4A Engine was a rip off of the X-Ray engine.
I would love to see that GSC worked with 4A to make changes to the 4A Engine hence Metro Exodus being (sort of) open world and licensing it for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.2. One can dream eh?

The engine is not confirmed ATM, though as far as I am aware a lot of GCS' X-Ray engine staff are now part of 4A Games, as g0ggles1994 said.
TBH Unreal Engine 4 can do great things with competent staff behind it. Let's just hope that it can live up to the legacy of its predecessors.

They won't do that. S.T.A.L.K.E.R lives and dies with its single player experience. If they do anything like that of Insurgency then they might as well cancel development altogether because it will alienate the entire fanbase (Me definitely included) and flop badly

Agreed 100%! I so enjoyed going into bases I was under equipped for, steal stuff and being followed out by an army because I got spotted

If they can make it like Far Cry 5, Full co-op, Then it will be immense, But Multiplayer only would ruin what Stalker is all about.

We can dream stalker, we can dream but Strelok is still out there. See you in the Zone and keep yourself safe during those blow outs.
That's not a bad idea having co-op but full on multiplayer would ruin the whole game and what made S.T.A.L.K.E.R such a classic, if it turns into another Survarium it'll lose so many fans.
