the build i have in mind is going to be expensive

"in for a penny... in for a pound" as they say!!

it's not going to be a rig that just sits in the office - epic builds need to be shown off

i have always been the type of peron that... if i am going to go down a certain route, I AM GOING ALL THE WAY

If you get chrome pipes make some very subtle red LED's or something

I hope you go down the metal pipe route as i can imagine it will be as Barney Stinson said "Legen.. wait for it.. dary"

red lights will be cancelled out on red chrome

the same can be said with any 'like' colours

red diffuse surfaces absorb the reds in the electromagnetic spectrum... and so on...

i may opt for black 'brushed' chrome, as shiny surfaces create heat as light reflects off them

, and black is the least heat-absorbant colour

Well my view is metal pipes will make a difference, but nothing too major since it's only incidental airflow and the heat radiating off it, which isn't much unless you get a spiralling pipe, even then I wouldn't except anything major, maybe 3*c tops?

I think you should just let the heat out of the system through the radiator in a water cooling setup. The metal tubing will just dissipate the heat inside the case for which you'll then require good airflow. It'll basically be like a large air cooler with coolant circulating inside imho.

Can you explain that a bit please m8. Cant get my brain around it.

As the reason dark colors are dark is that they absorb light instead of reflecting it. Since light is energy, absorbing light makes something hotter. And thats why if you leave something black out in the sun and something lets say red. And use a infared temp guage on both. the Black object will be much hotter than the red object.

lost in the interpretation - hehehe - i will explain a bit better (i hope)

the rig will be lit by lian li led strips and laser-LEDs (or similar).... lots of shiny surfaces will reflect, and possibly magnify the light... creating heat on parts of certain components that are not designed to have it on them.

i do not want this... so the black brushed chrome will NOT reflect light/heat, unlike polished chrome.

But dark objects also radiate heat a lot better then light objects, and I don't think the LEDs from fans will add too much heat from the light they radiate.

some of y'all are being abit datf lol. and I mean that with all the love I can muster lol. The tubing will not put heat into the case anymore than tubing lol. it will in fact (if he has case air flow in addition to the rads air flow) cool a tad bit better yes some heat will disapate into the case but were talking nominal amounts. and that would blow out with the exhaust. Metal tubing WILL aide in cooler temps but not by any huge amount. I'd say 1-3c TOPS
