SSD is driving me mental

well ive had a Kingston Hyper X SSD for a few weeks now and to start with it was fine but now its really slow and keeps pausing for a good few seconds before it continues to load a program or open web browser etc.

i also tried to update the firmware but the kingston software fails to see the drive so im not 100% sure what firmware its running

rest of the pc is
motherboard: - Gigabyte Z68X-UD5-B3
CPU: - Sandy Bridge i5 2500k
GPU: - Sapphire HD6850
Ram: - Corsair Dominator 4gb

im just looking for ideas as to what could be causing the issue and what steps to to fix it

A friend had a problem with a Kingston Ssd for a while that reminds me of this.
The problem was sorted by making sure the sata cable was in fully.
This post might not be too much help but its worth a shot.

I would be worried that the update software doesn't even see the drive. That could be cause for concern.

yes thats what i was thinking. ive also checked to make sure the SSD is on the intel chipset and not on the one but no matter what i do i can not get it to show up

Disable all power saving features (c1e, eist and such) and see if the situation changes, Does your ssd benchmarks look allright?

ill check but im pretty sure its already done from when i set it up forst time round.

Hmm, sounds like a weird problem. Nothing I have ever experienced.

that fills me with loads of hope and joy

Is that with every browser? It might just be an issue with the browser you're currently using. Try another browser if you haven't, or re-install the one you're using at the moment.

I hate my kingston hyper x drives there pieces off... They crash the hell out of my rig 6 times i put them in raid0.....anyways

yep think i might be throwing it in the bin and replacing it with something else just not sure what

good idea that thanks ill give it ago and see if it improves anything :D

You can try - most docks are via USB and most SSD firmware updates have to be with the drive plugged into a SATA port.

If you have a spare machine, plug the SSD drive in as a secondary drive, then try booting and see if it recognizes the drive. Maybe the issue is something to do with your motherboard.

ive manage to update firmware with it on another pc but its still doing the same as it was. im not sure it could be due to my motherboard but im not sure and the only other sata 3 board i have access to is a friends who has the same model board as myself

Have you done a complete wipe and re-install yet? Otherwise, RMA the sucker...

yes ive now done reinstalled windows twice. Also done it after the firmware update but still nothing

edit: - have called kingston up today to see if they have any ideas if not then it looks set for the bin
