I can get the Samsung 840 EVO 250GB for £136 Delivered and the Samsung 840 PRO 256GB £169 Delivered

Is the Pro worth the £33 price difference?

People say the EVO's life expectancy is fine for "consumer" workloads but no one really explains what a "consumer" workload is.

Also is the EVO's Turbo mode actually good?

I play games use adobe programs like Photoshop etc and occasionally record and edit videos.

Regards, Tom.

PRO is the better option if you have the money. Boost only comes into effect when the workload is becoming heavy. PRO is all around fast and stays fast. EVO is fast but not as fast and only comes up on par with the boost activated. PRO will last longer due to being MLC nand vs the TLC nand in the evo.

Though both will last you at least 6 years.

^^ What he said. I've heard nothing but good from both of them.

i switched from 2 ocz vertex 3 2400gb in raid0 to 1 Samsung 840 evo 250gb (new from CEX for £105) best move i've made!

you can't go wrong with Samsung, so save a bit of cash and go with the evo!

If you'd had Vertex 4s the difference would have been negligible (1v1 or 2v2)
