SSD boottime problem

hello people,
yesterday I had to reinstall windows (see my other thread in off-topic),
had normal boottimes of like 5 seconds or something,
turned my PC on today at it took over 20(!) seconds
motherboard is in my signature, bios is updated, how do I fix it?

any help is appreciated,
thanks

Well unfortunately that didn't do anything. Boottime is still the same

Edit:
Well, it took the same time during the first boot after repairing, but now it seems to work lol
thanks!

hmmn could be periferals i.e external hdd or other usb item its funny how the fixboot managed to fix it then it broke again strange ill see if i can find another way of trouble shooting it..

ahci is in bios that suggestion is good but if your on sata 3 i thought it auto selected ahci mode when installing the os.. he should have quick boot enabled in bios too but i just dont get it at the moment.. without being infront of the pc its kinda hard to diagnose...

Are there any other symptoms you notice?
Are you set to AHCI mode?
yes, AHCI mode
Have you disabled all of the unnecessary BIOS messages/splash screens?
yes. also i'm not complaining about the bios, the whole part after the bios just takes too long for an ssd
Is the big waiting time before or after you get to the Windows Splash screen?
not exactly sure what you mean
the wait time is during the windows logo animation thing
that sounds like trim thing maybe ?

i found my pc boots much faster wen set to ahci and trim is turned on
gonna check for trim in the bios

alright so i've tested this now a couple times,
really seems like it's my external usb3 hdd that causes the problem
with my external hdd plugged in it really takes about 15 seconds longer
if it's not plugged in it's a normal ssd boottime
rofl
the weird part about it:
my external hdd isn't even detected in the bios / windows installation
i have to manually pull the power plug and plug it back in when i'm on my desktop to actually use the external hdd!

can anyone explain this please? very curious

the windows os is probably trying to use superfetch on the external for "indexing" as its not powered it cant see it correctly but can read the usb data stream so it does see it kind of causing a lag in the load time whilst it figures out what to do.

its the only way to explain it in simple terms :D

edit: oh even if it was powered it can still cause this issue!!!
