Hi peeps,

Im currently running a 160gb hard drive as the windows boot drive for my rig, and as you would imagine, its painfully slow

But ive already started saving my for my new build and i don't want to spend alot of money now as i want to buy all the new parts in one go.

So i was thinking about getting a decent but not expensive drive, since my mobo aint SATA III, there's no point of me getting a SATA III drive.

Also when i get a better one for my new build, the old SSD will go into my netbook which is also SATA II.

But the problem im having is that SATA II SSD's are looking to be more expensive than SATA III so im stuck.

How much space does windows take as im looking to only get a 64GB as they are the cheapest around, im very tight at the moment so i cant spend over £80

Look for kingston v+100 or just the v100.And 64gb is enough for windows.

Thanks for the suggestions

I looked the Kingston drives and found the v100 on dabs.com for £65.98

http://www.dabs.com/products/kingst...ta-300-2-5--solid-state-drive-782J.html?src=2

But i also found this:

http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...TA-II+Solid+State+Hard+Drive+?productId=44465

The Patriot has higher reads and writes so it would be better to for that or the Corsair Nova 2 for £60 but its a 60GB where as the Patriot is a 64GB drive

How good are the Patriots as im thinking of getting that one

^^^ i have read on the reviews that this SSD is slow in benchmarks. I'm interested in the drive as its in my budget, 120gb SSD for £99.95. Before i buy, i want o know your thoughts on it

I've heard awesome things about Mushkin products and no doubt the SSD will not disappoint.

Its the reason why im thinking to go for it but those comments are making me think twice. I'll be running it on SATA II for a while until whenever i upgrade to a SATA III equipped mobo. What's good software to bench mark an SSD as i heard some are not as good as others?

I've bought the 90GB version, earlier this week before I found this deal - bugger always the way, could have had another 30GB for a tenner - never mind. Use ATTO for benchmarking.
