Good day Forum Junkies
I recently completed a much-needed personal PC upgrade after too many excruciating years with a glacially slow pc. But now that I have this old machine sitting in the corner, I feel that it could be put to better use than merely gathering dust...
Is there anyway that I could combine a squid proxy server (to speed up the internet connection) and a home storage server setup on one machine?
The specifications of the machine are: Intel Pentium 4 single core 3,0Ghz, 2gigs of RAM, 1,5TB of hard drive storage. I would be willing to add an additional NIC if necessary. Btw, the machine would be running 24/7 and positioned directly next to my gigabit internet modem/router (Speed: 16mbit down, 1mbit up; Don't laugh at my upload speed
Blame the german ISPs for wanting to save bandwidth).
Suggestions and/or advice would be greatly appreciated!
All the best
Jared
ps: I hope I posted this thread in the correction section. If not, please point me in the right direction.
