Can you also just let me know how much you reckon its worth from the top of your head and if i can get similar or exact parts from cheaper places! And even if everything is compatible e.g mobo with cpu etc etc.

Dont get a 7950, wait for about a week and get a G80. Also the 6300 is the best price: overclockability c2d. Save a little there and get some better ram perhaps?

It will be a bit, but a GTS won't be too unreasonable

And he means best value for money as in you can overclock them a whiole load and they cost little

Well the 6300 costs a little less, and will overclock just as well. Theres a comparrison out there somwhere between the overclocks on all the c2ds. The 8800GTS shouldn't be too pricey and will knock the socks off any 7xxx card.

I agree the G80 should be much better

Ultra make some of the most horrible PSU's ever. Undervolted rails, they have a tendency to squeal under load, and they just go poof (somtimes taking valuable parts with them). Ultra PSU's = bad.

The 8800GTS will be a bit more expensive than what you've selected right now, but very much worth that extra bit of money. It'll probably run around $700 AUD.

holy smokes!!! i think i will wait!!! you maybe right ill just save up an extra $700.. is there an exact date for the realease of it yet?

Don't bother with the 7950 and you only need an extra $200:)

Is it right to advise him to get the first revisions of the cards, including the prices they`ll be at on release ?

Just interested.

As Ham says, just from the feedback the guyz have posted on here, the 6300 seems to be the way to go.

And for a psu - enter the compo ;) Nice beast on offer there.... hmmm postage...

EDIT: Maybe get more than 1g too :p

Actually Frag, those were only the first gen Ultra PSUs that were made by Youngyear (or something like that). Their newer PSUs are actually quite decent (I forget who makes em now, Wintech I think)) and work just fine and make fine bang-for-the-buck budget PSUs.

The X2 series of PSUs are great Frag. As WC said, the first gen was horrible. I suggest you wait for G80 striker, There is one on sale for I believe around $625 (8800) just spend less on cpu and get th 8800 or wait for a lower version to be reeleased. I suggest getting more than 1g of ram since that may bottleneck your CPU, also, if going G80, I think you need a larger PSU.

did my research on the net and apprantely the 8800 doesnt support dx9 and latest games as they arnt dx9 therefore i cant play them...can anyone please confirm this??

I have a bit of trouble understanding what you asked. Is your question weather the 8800 will work with older DX9 games? If that is your question, I'm sure it'll work with DX9 games, I'm pretty sure if you play a game with a lower DX version with a card that uses a higher version it'll work. Example: Play a DX8 game with a DX9 card. It'd be kinda dumb if you couldn't!:)

G80's are 100% backwards compatible with DX9 games, wherever you got that info was mad bogus.

And I stand corrected about the PSU I guess, looks like they turned things around!
