Spec Me a Metal Mouse

I've had my Corsair Scimitar about 6 months now and while it's great, The wear and tear of the rubberised surfaces is now becoming apparent and generally cannot be stopped due to the natural oils of the hands, Even if you are very clean, Which I am, The rubber surface very quickly starts to look grotty even after cleaning.

So, Does a mouse exist that is mainly just metal, With no sign of plastic or rubber on the mouse buttons or main body that the palm rests on ?

I don't know about metal ones. Corsair M65 Pro white has glossy plastic. That one should be more durable.

I don't think there is one. If there was it would have to be alu, and alu will go too (hand oil has acid in it which alu doesn't like, just look at the palm rest on an old macbook..)

I think you're just going to have to come around to the idea that no mouse, no matter how expensive, is built any better than any other these days.

Maybe you got a poorly spray painted mouse?

I have had my scimitar since release. There is no wearing on mine yet. My only gripe is that I have the yellow one since they didnt release black until later.

As for metal mouse, will be a hard sell. Gamers want light mice only way for that to happen is to ditch extra weight where possible.

Steelseries has a history of sensor issues, though, for example old Sensei had a common issue of crosshair shooting up during fast flicks.

Glossy finish tends to wear more gracefully, like old Diamondback, Mx518, Sensei RAW and white G600. I haven't owned a G600 so I can't comment too much on that, but Diamondback had a rubber strip which turned yellow over time and Mx518's thumb rest was rubberized and became shiny over time. Sensei RAW didn't wear visibly but the cord broke. But clearcoat finishes are somewhat common so I'd look for those.

Steelseries used to make a World of Warcraft mouse which at least looks like aluminium but I can't find much info about it since they later released a "legendary edition" which is what google comes up with nowadays.

I don't know if I'm rougher on my mice or what, but at least G302 and G402 are both partially shiny now. I suspect my current G900 will end up like that as well eventually. :D They aren't grotty but visibly worn.

Edit: Oh and I found this: https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/asus-aluminium-clad-eagle-eye-gaming-mouse.html

No idea if you can buy that anymore.
