Speakers. Worth upgrading or not?

Hi guys. I really cant decide if i should upgrade my Speaker system on my PC.

Basically about 5 years ago Now I went into PC world and managed to get an ex display Set of JBL Spots for £15. and have had them ever since. The base on them is so deep i actualy have to have it turned to 0 most of the time, And the 2 tiny little spot. sound great.

Now I am waiting for the Asus Phobus sound card to be released. And was wondering if I should upgrade speakers or not. I don't want to spend more than around the £100 quid mark, and the JBL spots I have are still being sold at around the £80 mark even now.

I have looked at the Corsair stuff, And I realy cant see Corsair stuff being as good or better at least enough to warrent switching to them. At the End of the Day JBL is a specialised Audio company where as Corsair is sort of a Jack of all trades master of none.

I was at one time going to get the Philips AMB-x full setup. as i loved the idea of it. And Novatech did the full kit, Fans and rumble strip included for £60 but they sold out, And now people are asking for £200 plus for this setup.

So my question is, is it actually worth changing my setup or not. the JBL's sound great to me, But, that's because I haven't heard anything else. Bar the audio that comes out of my Vulcan ANC headphones. Will i notice a differrence in quality, if i change my setup?

truth is the speakers technology hasnt improved too much if at all really since lsat 10 or so years, of course we have fancy magnetic shielding, fancy boxes and 7.1 etc. but the quality of good branded 10 year old speakers wont wary too much from one today atleast the full desktop speakers the in ear ones and heaphones improved a whole lot

id just stick with them for now

lol speakers are standstill technology only people who are trying to evolve it are Bose.. and they're out of your price range

Yeah I agree with the above, you probably wont get a worthwhile improvement buying new. Might be worth keeping an eye on ebay though, you get the odd gem now and again.

I use bose companion 2 speakers. These cost me £100, they are a little bass heavy out of the box but with an eq setup with the soundcard the'll do anything you want.

For £100 they're incredible!
