why do high end monitors that are expensive insist on putting the crappiest sound in these monitors, honestly its a torture

Now these monitors are expensive so lets take the cost of the speakers they install, maybe $1 if that and instead take it off the retail price or better quality on the buttons

And Windows 10 in all its glory has a bad habit for some reason to switching to these, yes, can disable but they always keep coming back......dont download the drivers when you install the Nvidia cards is the best option but sometimes you forget until you hear that hideous sound..........The Pro Mazda ( iRacing ) is not the best sounding car but its torture with these

Maybe put better speakers in ? oh well

They need to have speakers for HDMI. No one uses them so they cheep out on them. If you don't wont to have issues connect via Display Port, or DVI.

No don't take away my craptacular speakers. I use them to listen to news in the morning after shower, when headphones aren't an option and quality isn't much of a concern. :D

Displayport does the same thing, ive had quite a few times where Nvidia's driver nonsense put the default sound device back to my monitor over my sound card and its infuriating.

There is a way to have your cake and eat it. Firstly get yourself a USB sound card. Anything will do, doesn't need to be high end. Something like this.

Then get one of these.

And then a subwoofer of your choice. It doesn't need to be anything spectacular.

I am using an Asus Xonar U1 I picked up for a fiver from Box in the sale a couple of years back. I then bought a working (and very clean) Bose white subwoofer and converted it to use a Chinese amp (cost about £70 total IIRC) and it sounds fantastic.

My monitor has B&O drivers in it but like you say they are nothing but tweeters. Add in a sub though? yeah it sounds great. More than enough for me to seriously annoy my neighbours with (even though I don't).

I prefer wearing headphones but during the summer I get ear infections from over use etc. So it's nice to have a reasonably decent system.

I wouldn't recommend using only headphones. Prolonged continuous use will damage your hearing. You won't notice it, but give it a decade, and you will be in a serious trouble.

After my 15 years in SPL comps I would say it's probably too late to worry about that :D

AMD has this problem too

No it won't. If you listen to insane volumes levels is the only way to damage hearing. Unless you listen to specific damage inducing frequencies.

If AMD has it, its probably a windows 10 thing then, because i do remember a time where windows 10 didn't override settings after an update for drivers.
