Lol at the use of 'weather'. I agree though, they have definitely not succeeded in creating a gaming phenomenon with the latest console, and with all their recent problems (rootkit tbh), not sure how they can be saved. That, and they are pushing Blu-Ray on us to try not to have the second BetaMax although I think Blu-Ray may very well loose.name='v a d e R`' said:

Could this be the beginning of the end.
I honestly can't see Blue-Ray or the PS3 Delaystation saving them. Apparently, from what I have read, it's not an easy console to code for.
They really need to widen their outlook on Blue-Ray too. Start putting funds into companies that want to produce hybrid Blue-Ray/HD-DVD drives. They don't seem to have learned any lessons from the failure of the LS120, Minidisc, Memory-Stick or UMD.
Take a look at the ZIP drive. Mine still works, it's in my rig now, and I can still buy 100mb disks. My Sony MD player is gathering dust in the corner, can't get discs for it.
And with regards to the rootkit fiasco, I believe they lost more revenue in 6 months than they did in the past 5 years to the pirates.

This all looks very familiar when a certain company have been in a market for a while.
Let`s hope iPods are ok in so-many years time, think they favor that market too.

this annoys me seeing as I am a Sony addict, or maybe that should read 'was a Sony addict'
For years they've made the best Home Entertainment equipment, there was a day when you'd walk into my house and there was a Sony TV, DVD, VCR, etc...
The PS1 to me was ground breaking especially with Gran Turismo, the PS2 was so so but still a good console so when the PSP came out I bought one, well I couldn't wait for the UK so I ordered one from Japan...and my word is it a pile of rubbish, in all honesty I've used it once on a 9 hour flight to Cuba, if I could be bothered to dig out the box and accessories I'd sell it.
I then had a run of 3 Sony DVD players going south in a matter of months and now the only think on my TV stand that is Sony is the Home Theatre Amp.
I really really want a PS3 but now I'm not so sure as I can too cast my eye to the corner of my room and see a redundant MD player etc....
Come on Sony FFS buck your ideas up....

Isn`t it crazy! I could bring out a games console 2morrow with half the cpu boastings of an Xbox, PS3 - whatever, but with the backing of the best games company in the world, it could outsell all of them.
I think Nintendo are prehaps turning people`s heads towards this a little. It`s ok bringing out faster and faster units, but if u`r conception and practical workings are all over the shop - u`r not going to sell many units. That includes logistics.
Personally I hate this idea that - we`ll fit a USB port to our unit, but hold on u can`t use regular usb stuff - u have to buy ours. Switch USB with drives, controllers whatever.
