The only thing that makes me sad about it is that there is no way currently to get high quality, high bitrate versions of any audiovisual production aside from blu-rays, and publishers that already don't offer BD like Netflix have been proving that for too many years, you just can't watch a high bitrate version of anything from netflix

That’s not entirely true, there is the Kaleidescape system which is digital only but the same quality as disc. The price of entry is just very high but once you are in it’s generally cheaper than UHDs with more frequent sales.
