Sony to close PlayStation group?

If the PS3 will be so outdated in 10 years (or however long), and it will, think of the 360, which doesn't even have room to develop. They can't even tell people (i.e. me) with the original premiums to get a better HD or something because we won't.

I thought PS3 would be slightly better TBH, I think its a bit of a pain sometimes, what with the lack of Ipod support (all of my music is in aac or m4a not mp3) but apart from that I think its pretty good.

I think the PS3 is onto a winner with the bluray player, although given the choice, i watch blurays on the PC because my monitor has a better res and I have a better sound system.

The console is still a better thing to have if you have enough friends who come round.

Another thought I had is that even after 9 years, I still play the PS2 (or at least PS2 games) as well as 15 year old PS1 games, despite the graphics because they are great games.

I'll be the first to admit that I snubbed the wii on the lack of graphical power, but I can see the point at 1am in the JCR, while drunk playing Mariocart. I think that concept applies with all consoles, and can't be applied nearly as easily with the PC.

I think that now the PS3 has got into its stride it will make money for sony as well as bring a bluray player into every front room, whereas MS will have to work harder and harder to keep games on 1 DVD and not force people to install the games, which for me would be impossible on the 360.

Microsoft still can use the HD DVD discs as a form of storage since it does hold 15GB.

And their new console is coming in 2 years-ish from now anyway.

And for those of us with original consoles sans HDVD drives? They said no games was going to be released on HDDVD anyway.

Not true. Microsoft have canned their HD-DVD players and HD-DVD production has been stopped so there's no way HD-DVD's can be used in any way by Microsoft as a viable storage extender. Please read up on stuff before guessing.

New console in development? Yes undoubtedly. Whereas Sony have made it clear that they expect the PS3 to have at least 4 more years left in it so those with one can be pretty happy about the vfm it will give, much like it's been mentioned with the PS2. And of course I didn't mention it's a damn fine Blu ray player too.

Funnily enough the PS2 is still one of the top-selling consoles. it is so cheap to make Sony are basically printing money with it.

The Wii was fun for a while, but lack of decent games aside from Wii Sports and a couple of others meant it was just not my cup of tea. Even with some mates round it gets a little dull in all honestly.

i'm not to sure about the such long life expentances with the PS3 when tech moves so quick! But i hope im wrong as i see the ps3 and xbox in a sort of different market than the wii.

O_o

Thanks for updating me Kempez.

Never really bothered researching on things that won't necessarily help me.

They can revive it though right?

New console is expected from people.

Never implied or tried to imply that it is in development.

Sony will keep the PS3 going for a few years to come and possibly not release another one, which will be a shame :(

No they won't be able to revive it, it's gone and Toshiba no longer print HD-DVD discs.

A new console is indeed in development by MS, as you said :)

U reckon all this could be stirred up cos they merely shelved ps4 for a bit ? and some are jumping to conclusions ?

its very possible, where did you hear about the ps4 being shelved for a bit?

They had better not do this... As someone mentioned earlier about PS2 games.. I still play the odd PS game. Cracked on Resi Evil 1 the other week. Also slapped Resi Evil 2 and 3 on my PSP. Loving that.

That's what I mean really, like scuttle-bug, then some1 like TheInquirer fill in their own gaps.

B4 we know it, 2 people chat about it on a forum - some1 reads it, posts it somewhere else.

By the 12th forum, it aint rumor it's fact.

Nothing in it tho.
