TBH, Sony is lucky they made their "let's go all-in with live service" mistake this generation, not the last one. PS5's success is a follow-up to the PS4, and if Sony had wasted this much money and development time last-gen, it wouldn't have been as successful with the PS4.
It boggles the mind that they thought a skilled remasterer and remaker of single-player games should spend their time on a multiplayer live-service God of War game. This is EA-style mismanagement.
It's like when EA got Dead Space's devs to make Battlefield Hardline (a police game?) and then axed the studio. Who thought that was a good idea?

We don't know if the studio itself pitched the idea to Sony or if Sony thought they should make them do it. Now without a doubt either way of those two things, A) Sony should have realized no this is a bad idea or B) told that executive he's an idiot. Lol
I'm not sure who thought it would be a good game to begin with. I can't even imagine a fun way to play a live service GoW. That's so anti everything GoW is.
