Some new positions at Overclock3D.....

Hi Guys,

Due to things being just a tad mental on the OC3D front at the moment I've unfortunately been neglecting certain parts of the OC3D site/services that really need attention. Therefore over the next few weeks I'm going to be advertising some "jobs" (loosest sense) available on OC3D for those who want to help out and maybe get some goodies in return if they do well ;)

First Up:

Chief game server admin

As the game server admin you will be responsible for looking after the OC3D COD4, UT3 and CSS servers. This involves keeping them up-to-date, installing and enforcing necessary anti-cheat systems, keeping the servers interesting and busy by listening to players needs and recruiting other admins.

You will be given FTP access to each of the servers along with the server rcon/admin passwords.

You say 'first up'... What are the other titles?

Have you got an 'Official OC3D Inuendo Executive' or something like that? I was going to spend some time making an awesome acronym title but I don't have the time!

I'm always up for some power being bestowed upon me so shotgun mod status next. Actually float OC3D and I'll do a hostile take over then I can make myself King of OC3D... God I'm bored. Better get back to work... :o/

I own all games apart from UT3 but college may prohibit me from taking full care of the servers

Other than that and no previous experience with the actual ftp bit i would feel happy doing it

Perhaps i could be their PA? :p lol

but yeh dont blame u jim, games would be last on your mind

Id be comfortable with it all apart from FTP, perhaps mucking something up - plus the fact i probably dont have time to float between all games.

I play cod4 mostly nowadays and havent css-ed in ages :p

Would be nice to see what other titles come

id be happy to continue with cod4 and report back to the chief admin what needs to be done on the cod4 front

We haven't finalised anything as yet, but possible roles could be along the lines of a reviews co-ordinator (making sure the reviews team are primed with hardware and manufacturers send us the latest stuff), marketing (making sure our reviews get good linkage, competition organising etc).

Cool. Do you have an existing list of contacts (manfs), would this involve going out and dining/drinking with reps, building a relationship? I like that kinda stuff... Or would it be a phone/hassle relationship?

Most of the relationships are already there so for the most part it'd just be bugging them to send new stuff as soon as (or before) it lands.
