Some HD7970 reviews

it sometimes beats the 6990

glad to see that they are actual good cards.

Wow that is impressive, but the price is very expensive, I realised if the card has this much power, I think the price is justified. Can't wait for OC3D review! I love the long videos

This was quite interesting in the Bit Tech review:

However, it's questionable whether you seriously need that much graphics performance. With the PC games industry tied down by games that need to be developed for ageing consoles, you won't benefit from this sort of graphics power unless you use very high resolutions. A quick glance at the performance in games such as Skyrim or Dirt 3 at 1,920 x 1,080 is enough to tell you that, for most titles, a cheaper card delivers equally playable results.

Regardless, you'd arguably be foolish (or perhaps an AMD fanboy) to jump the 28nm gun so quickly. Nvidia will respond with its own 28nm Kepler parts around March/April (to coincide with Ivy Bridge, we believe) and

we expect new GPUs from AMD between January and March too.

EDIT: two weeks until review? I might cry

not sure what to make of these tbh, i mean yeah they are good, beats the 580 sometimes but it doesn't beat it enough to make me think it is worth the price and worth buying over Kepler unless that flops like the 400 series

im very happy to with some of these overclocks with stock cooler 1165 legit reviews got. imagine with some voltage tweaks and water cooling! 1200 mhz+ ?

It's not worth buying one to put up the backside of a 1080p monitor no. Absolutely not.

However, most of the "easter eggs" that the card has come up with are solely aimed at 3 screen users.

And I can tell you from running 3 myself, it fixes the absolute worst of them, by allowing you to have your task bar and main windows in the middle screen so that you don't need to turn your mouse to like 10,000 DPI in order to span the screens.

Three screens are currently laid out so absolutely terribly (it's a bodge using the WDHM or whatever the heck it's called that Win 7 uses) that I built a second PC just for three screen gaming. It's absolutely awesome, but living with the desktop layout would have driven me to an early grave.

Mate is pre ordering one for those reasons.

They don't have CUDA. They do have a new revised Direct Compute that can make Winzip go faster though !

Haha I have to say that some of the stuff they're pimping is truly laughable. Talk about squeeze every last drop !

But for three screens and 1600p it's the only single GPU card in existence. Which is pretty cool.

Very impressed with the numbers! Cant wait to see Nvidias punch back!! BUT with the temps going down some i was still expecting more from the many people saying there was going to be a TON less power consumption and less temps would be seen right after. BUT it seemed pretty good, i might be selling the two 590's and heading towards the trifire region with these. "maybe"

AMD folds like crap and always has i seriously dont see this card being huge over the numbers a 6970 would put in

I've never understood this. Why don't the folding people get something sorted out ? There is a heck of alot of potential to do some serious work.

We say they don't have cuda etc, but there apps out there that use amd cards to transcode and the like in both nvidia and amd gpus... so where's the problem ?

Ok they 'work', but for fah 'working' doesn't cut it and it's not for the lack of processing potential.

its cuda that the f@h is using mate and they would need a develop a client that would be as watt for watt as good and every card so far hasnt been even they said there would be a 5 series but it never came out

Hello !

Yeah I don't really do forums much any more.

Just generally tend to stick to social networking. That way there tends to be more mutual respect as you know the people you are speaking to and vice versa.

I'm not the most patient of individuals, and there's always some one on a forum you don't take to.

Were you snow white? I get confused man, too many names haha.

yeah I agree, even with the new client, my overclocked 5850 still only gets 7500 PPD which is a lot less than the GTX 460 which is 15% slower than a stock 5850.

The card still look great though.

when i had 3 460's folding i was cracking 13-14k per card they were beastly cards on gpu3 and for a very long time and prob still are the best value out there
