well peeps.

alot of you know that i won 3rd prize in the last large christmas compo.

it's been a while, as the guys have been very busy, but two days ago i arranged for my prize to be picked up (YAY).

it arrives in about 8hrs or so

i have bought 2x Kingston V+100 64GB SSDs to match the one that is in it (RAID), and a 2.2TB WD Caviar Black (storage). also x2 akasa HMDI1.4(3D) cables, 5m long kettle power lead, a few Lian-Li 30cm white cold cathode internal flexible lights.

This will be my YANG to go with my YING rig

and will be a render-slave/server.

pics/video will be posted soon

Do the v+100 support garbage collection in raid now? if so that will help but im 99% sure they dont have trim in raid either, if no then performance is going to drop sooner or later

Also damn you only running it as a render slave

why's it need 3 ssd's if its a server anyways? surely that money woulda been better spent on more mechanical drives?

Oh and grats on winning btw.

accessing data between 3DSmax servers and clients will be increased, as the virtual memory (on drives) can be parsed more efficiently.

next week i am getting another 4GB of mushkin ridgebacks (1600 6x8x6) to go in it (shame i cannot get matching white one's

)

then the following week i will be upgrading the YING rig to 16GB DominatorGT 2000.

at a later date i may get a 570Ti to go in the YANG for Physx and folding

@ Dug

Im super excited for you dude! Are you going to sit on your porch all day waiting for the Delivery guy? lol

@ I hunta

Tom mentioned that No they do not have trim, but these and most of the newer quality SSD have their own way of cleaning house when they are not being used. So basically pretty much the same thing in the end. And you should not notice any drop in performance.

i'm glad i could help you get yours sorted out too dude

google was my bestest buddy

if Kamii has trouble, and wants to know a cheap and reliable courier to get his prize, i can help him too

(i want commission for this - lol)

well the fan is very fiddly to mounted on the cooler. but, apart from that.... easy peasy.

TTL - i am impressed.... VERY nice cable management. the vids didn't do it justice.

apart from the occasional whirr of the GPU, i wouldn't even known the rig was on, if it wasn't for the power light
biggrin.gif
it's super silent

i am... as happy as a randy cockerel in a roost of gagging-for-it chicks

i am in the middle of setting up RAID0 and installing 'stuff'

once that is done, i will be deciding the best way to light it up with a few lian-li flexible white cold cathodes strips.

patience peeps - i will do a full video of the two rigs - the CM storm scout fits beautifully on top of the fractal R3, without restictions... hence the YING and YANG name.

this has been carefully thought out since i won it. i want to show everyone, everything at it's best.

it might be near the weekend
