Smokings and issues.

I realised something today, (yay me!)

I will never ever ever ever (ever) smoke again. I was down at the army range doing their obstacle course.

I don't think i've ever felt so ashamed. Ever.

I see myself as a fit person, but today a dude who weighs over 100 kg ran past me. And then it hit me.

I never did stop smoking, i just did it less. From half a pack a day to one pack a week.

But it will end here.

And all you other lads and lasses. Join me and stop smoking!

Quitting smoking is one of the best things you will ever do, I stopped smoking around three years ago now and feel a lot better than when I did smoke.

Don't give in, once you get past the first three days it gets easier, will power is all you need.

i was never really into smoking to begin with, i mean i can have a fag every now and then(last one 5 months ago lol) but i was never addicted to it. am i weird?

It fills me with joy to see my fellow man using his reasoning ability. I'm proud of you

I hate cigarette smoke, always hold my breath around it. Sticks to you too - it's nasty.

Whether you call it design or evolutionary reflex, I think we can all agree fags are repulsive to our lungs for good reason - like most things. If it tastes bad, it is bad - listen to your body and you'll live a long life. It's a machine after all.

The problem is i don't really notice i have a fag until it's right under my nose, dark magic or something ._.

Thanks for the support!

here is my story:

about 15years ago, whilst working on a house, a friend asked me if i had any new year's resolutions (it was only october). i replied, that i would like to give up smoking. he said cool and we rambled on for a few more minutes while we smoked.

later on, while busy working, i had a brainwave....... if i have told myself that on "a certain day" i will give up smoking, why can't that day be today?

i then asked my friend if he wanted all my cigarettes and lighters FOR NOTHING, and told him the reason and that i would also bring him in the ash-trays from my house the following day.

i have not smoked since

TIP:

count days until the first week is achieved... then count WEEKS

if you reach ONE month... STOP COUNTING, you've done it

Been meaning to quit since the beginning of the month as i have havent been getting any pleasure from it for a while, ive stumbled a few times, but ive had less in these last few weeks than i would normally have in 2days, and im proud to say yesterday was the 1st day for a good while that i havent had a smoke. Feeling pretty good so far, got some social events this weekend so the proper test will begin then, but i have something to build on to stay away from the smokes

dugdiamonds' tip is spot on :-) and all the best to Potatis

Nice one mate, just keep saying no to a smoke, be positive and you will reach your goal. Will Power FTW

I'm not a smoker, if i see people at bus stops or at the pub smoking, i move away, don't care if they notice and start mumbling. Not even into drinking much, only now and again.

Chuppa chups lollies. Best stopping smoking thing ever. Every time you get a craving, have a lolly. Gives your mouth and hand something to do to take your mind of the physical habit part and leaves you with less to fight. After a couple of weeks you are so sick of the lollies, giving those up is easy ^^

damn, I don't believe I can quit smoking. it's the most stupid habbit but I like it.

everytime I think of quiting I postpone it

actually I haven't smoked since my previous post

I think there should be a quitting smoking signature thing like there is for folding. How long you've gone since your last fix. While there's no way of verifying whether someone has gone that long or not, I think it would give people a big boost in determination.
