hey guyz

i need a bit of help.

ive currently got a treo 650 which i got for xmas last year, and ive kinda dropped it too many times. subsequently the microphone has gone kaput.

the question im posing is what should i get now?

id love wifi, but id only get that only windows mobile platform (decently neways), but ive heard the windows mobile platform can be slow....

i use calender, todo lists, alarms, mp3 ringtones, phone, sms, camera (very seldomly and quality isnt something im interested in).

i need something that is touchscreen and sturdy.

can ne1 recommend nething?

thus far ive come up with ONE idea lol

i mean, i COULD just buy the treo 700p, but wireless would be a HUGE bonus, and the OS doesn't REALLY matter, im already used to palm OS, but windows OS wudn't be too much diff from XP.

The PPC-6700 is a sturdy piece of equipment with everything you need. It's only drawback is its size, it's like holding a brick of cheese to the side of your head when talking on it. Other than that, for the year+ that I had mine I absolutely loved it, it was great for doing anything. It has EVDO capabilities + wifi so you can get broadband where you might be.

Seems as tho u`r looking down the lines of a "pda" that`s also a phone, whereas I`m looking for a phone that does "pda" stuff.

I`m looking for a replacement for my spv600 atm, as I`m also switching network providers I`ll be looking to get something with alot of discounting on the pricing of the unit.

The spv600 uses windo$e, and to be fair it runs pretty well, but it does seem crippled slightly by the fact that alot of the windo$e based stuff runs of it`s internal memory only. Tbh when it`s got a chest full of messages and a dozen or so of "homemade" ringtones (which it only likes wav files for, and they have to be on internal storage, not on a card), the performance drops alot. (it`s slow atm) booting up the unit takes an absolute age compared to other phone OSs - having said that, u could also tag that to the little base memory the phone has. U can of course add memory in the form of a regular mini sd thingy, but it`s pretty much used for u`r own files u create, music and photos (the camera is ok, upto 1280 resolution, but the lighting is crapooo). When I initially had the phone, after having an spv500, it seemed to run alot smoother, shall we say, and it`s now almost standard 320x240 screen is good in terms of size, but the facier appears to be made of a softer "plastic" than the 500. Plays movies well mind ;) and this old technology now I spose.

I`d similarly appreciate any linking u can add to this thread Frag about the ones u`ve mentioned, they sound interesting.

ive decided to either go with the imate jasjar or jasjam due to their superior processors.

rasta, i would suggest going for either a palm or something that runs symbiant as they are more "phones that do pda stuff" the latter might be more suitable for someone such as yourself.

i would start looking at the nokia s60 platform most likely.

at least thats the little ive learnt from my short period of research
