Slight Issue

Hopefully this is in the right section.
I have been using my R9 390 with only HDMI, I have now since tried to use dvi-i, but nothing will get picked up. I only use one monitor and want to switch between my Xbox One and PC just by changing the source. I cannot seem to find a way to get the picture to come on, once I plug the HDMI cable back in the display is normal.
Using a VGA - DVI-I adapter.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.

DVI-D is a digital only port. Do you have a DVI-I port on the card?
The only way to go from DVI-D to VGA is through an "Active adapter" that will convert the signal from digital to analogue.

The card has dual link dvi-i, hdmi and dp.
I am using a vga - dvi-i adaptor to connect from my monitors vga. Was only buying the adapter to save money on yet another cable lol
Think i'll just buy a dvi-i cable as my monitor supports it. Thankyou.
