Sleeving & Cable Making

Hi guys,

This seems to be the place for sleeving questions :)

As some background my case is an STH10 with a pedestal base - this means that the distance from the base to the top of the case is quite long and the standard cables from my PSU are not going to reach (well not in a nicely cable managed way anyway).

I'd like to do the sleeving where the heatshrink is not visible - I think thats a much nicer look.

Q1. So what I'd like to know is firstly what sleeving do you guys recommend (brand/type)?

Then i'd rather not make extensions but whole new longer cables, what do you guys think of this?

Q2. Which leads me to ask, where can I but the plugs, crimps and actual cable to make my own entire cables so it is one new sleeved nice cable from PSU to thing (mobo, gpu, hdd, etc).

I think that's it for now ....
Hope you can all help :)

Cheers

PS - Buying in 1ft increments of wire will probably be useless to me - so looking for bigger than that.

A1: best sleeve (for me)I found is from eBay seller axon.modding.
He's got lot of color choices. I am using 3mm diameter for single braiding.

A2: Specialtech is shop of my choice for connectors and crimps. Cable itself
from eBay. Anything close to diameter 2.2mm , strands 24/0.2mm
(seller RapidOnlineShop)

As a delayed side note, wiring is usually 18 AWG at minimum (and most PSU manufacturers stick to this), while some use thicker 16 AWG (Enermax in some models, for example. It's why you read complaints about their stiff wiring in some reviews from time to time.). Just FYI, anything similar to this will do fine, as already mentioned.

If you have the cash, you might be interested to go for silicone wiring. It is incredibly flexible (if the inner strands are fine enough) compared to the usual stuff and can be bought on eBay as well. However, prices are substantially higher.
If you decide that you're interested in this, I recommend buying a sample (or several different ones) first to see if it really is something you'd like.

If you're going to do a complete PSU I would get everything from MDPC, especially if you also need to buy a crimper.
