This is why we desperately need AMD to have Zen be kick ass or Intel will continue to raise prices.

Based on that socket picture either this socket will not be for regular consumers or AIO manufacturers are seriously going to have to up their game and make monstrous sized AIO's.

Again this isn't a consumer chip. That is a server class chip.

Wonder if the 32 core Naples chip will be able to outclass this one..

They also do a 24c 48t now IIRC. But yeah, 22 core $4115.00

Architecture like this isn't for are personal build. It's for server architecture which is designed to host multiple VMs. The value of this hardware takes on a different perception when it's a source of income rather than convenience.

They are nice to have though. Shame they're so prohibitively expensive..

They have all of the instructions you need to run tons of VMs (and you can allocate specific cores to the task) and are binned to run as cool as a cucumber whilst using hardly any wattage.

Mind you, they are only as expensive as they are because businesses have no other choice. AMD dropped out years ago. They are going to be making a comeback though this is good news for business owners because AMD always offered a crap load of cores for peanuts.
