sky fiber unlimited

We have sky fibre and haven't had any issues at all. I run through a homeplug so take a performance hit but when i'm using my Mum's iPad downstairs on the wireless we get nice speeds around 25-30 download and 7 upload i think

Edit: Just did a test on my PC (so through homeplug which admittedly is slightly out of ideal range) 15 download and around 9-10 upload

im on the same package, havent got a bad word to say, speeds are at peak at all times, non of this throttling crap! The server and PS is wired, and i use 11 wireless devices and the connection doesnt miss a packet ;)

I can let you know on Friday as mine goes live then!

But it takes up to ten days of them testing different speeds down your line, so I'm guessing it won't be until after that were I get my full stable speed.

thanks guys i went ahead an switched to it, was a bit miffed at the £50 one off charge though the cheeky beggars.i live really close to the box an the exchange so hopefully i will get good speeds

I know I know, £50 for what?!

You get the new black router which means an engineer doesn't need to visit to install a box near your telephone line entry to your home which is good. You can just plug the router in and your normal service will continue through it, you'll just have to wait until a certain date to be connected.

I placed my order on the 6th and it goes live tomorrow. Just so you know how long to expect to wait.

yeah i tried to argue the point that the surcharge was day light robbery, it fell on deaf ears tho sadly. i was told that my fiber would start as soon as i plugged my new router in too, obviously my speed will vary for the first week, but i was under the impression their would be only the wait for the router

I doubt it will start on the day you plug in your router, I got a letter the same day as mine saying your connection date is Friday 20th, and it can go live up until midnight that day. Upon which your old service will turn off.

I spoke to them after my order was placed because the order status hadn't changed in six days on My Sky, so I asked what date will I go live, they said they can see it will be installed on the 20th, I said by install do you mean the service will go live or an engineer will visit? They dissapeared (this was on the online chat) and came back with "An engineer visit" so I was like errr but it says you don't need one, oh well, they probably got it wrong and don't actually know. But turns out you don't need an engineer visit anyway.

I thought my fibre would of been instant since I was already with them with broadband so it was just a quick upgrade but I think they still have to visit the exchange for you.

I'd give it a week and you'll get your router and probably a connection date. :\

It could still come before Christmas but it'll be pushing it. Let me know if you do get fibre as soon as you connect it up, maybe it's different in your area but I'd suspect customer services don't have a clue.
