SK Hynix White SSD's

Saw this and immediately though of Tom and his love of white ^_^

The GPU memory manufacturer Hynix will be selling SSD's as of this week on OCUK, They are not THE highest performing SSD's on the market but they are damn sexy and at £89.99p for 256GB they are a steal.

Other than the product description there isn't really much to say about these but they would look awesome in Orca V2 ^_^

SK hynix, one of the worlds largest manufacturers of NAND flash is entering the market with the own SSD the SH910A. SK hynix's multi-level cell (MLC) launch products come in two capacities 128GB and 256GB.

SK hynix SSD offers the highest level of SSD performance at this level.
The SK hynix SATA SSDs utilize a System on a Chip (SOC) design to manage a full SATA6 Gb/s bandwidth with the host while managing multiple flash memory devices on multiple channels internally.

The clean sleek white SSD design is ideal to create a smart looking system that sets itself out from the rest.

But that would mean white SSDs mounted on a white case?

Tbh, you could easily disassemble an SSD and paint the casing, or do what I did and keep your warranty. All you need is a 7mm>9mm adaptor (they come with self-adhesive pre-applied), paper and a printer :)

All that said, the SSDs do look nice, but as I've never heard of the brand (as far as drives go) it is not something that I would buy.

Well SK Hynix make the memory chips for a lot of AMD and Nvidia cards so they are a well established company :)

I love your custom SSD by the way, Looks awesome, I might have to do the same soon ^_^

I believe SK Hynix make all RAM as well, not just GPU memory ;)

But it does look quite nice. Hope these will be available in AUS and at a decent price.

Tis' very true and the vast majority of RAM silicon too ;) These new Drives would have been released last year had Hynix not lost there main processing plant in a fire... Ooops.

I think this would look a lot better in a black case than in a white case.
I like it though, love the simplistic look.

I am aware of that, but obviously these are a lot higher capacity and it also depends on the controller used. Probably won't be that bad though but I personally wouldn't buy something like that until I've seen some reviews :)

Thanks mate! I wanted to paint it first but didn't want to void my warranty 5 minutes after taking it out of the box so I went this route instead. I reckon the grey/black drives will go well with reference high-end Nvidia cards.

Do you all Remember when the ram prices went quite up, that was because a hynix plant had a fire. So yes they are a big player in the memory game.

As far as I know most ram in Lenovo Notebooks is manufactured by Hynix. At least the ones I opened up lately.

Bit more expensive but there are always Kingston HyperX 3K Black & White SSDs.

Give a better contrast in my opinion if your just going for pure aesthetics.

I have a couple of the 120Gb versions in my own rig, and I've got to say they look way better in the flesh.
