Single X1800XT can beat SLI

ONCE YOU move to overclocking, the R520 - Radeon X1800XT starts to look much better. When you test the card side by side with a 7800 GTX you kind of get almost the same performance but only when you overclock.

We managed to get one of the screenshots of the overclocking that took place last week at Ibiza, European capital of parties. If you cool it properly, the R520, X1800XT can reach some magnificent speeds and performance.

Finish overclocker Maki managed to overclock the card to 12278 in 3Dmark05. He overclocked the card from a default 625MHz core/1500MHz memory to a magnificent 877.5MHz core and 1980MHz memory. He used dry ice and he cooled the FX 57 to 3617.5 MHz to reach this score.

This score is higher than normal non overclocked two Geforce 7800GTX in SLI as we tried to play with those two cards here. This little experiment shows one totally unexplored part of R520 chip as it can be overclocked sky high. Maybe this can help you make a buying decision. We've even heard you can reach 10000+ in 3Dmark05 with normal air cooling. Stay tuned, we're trying to do just that.

OK yeah, a single X1800XT overclocked like fuck with liquid nitrogen can beat 2 7800GTXs at stock. Amazing

X800GTO Modded to X850XTPE w/BIOS Flash. Stock cooling. 16 Pipes. Overclocked.

Comparable to a 7800GT..'eh? For like, 1/2 the price! :rollingla.

Get some Arctic Cooling action, maybe watercooling, & u have one helluva card. :worship:

Yep those GTO2 cards are excellent VFM. If I was getting a new mid-range card I would get one and soft-mod it to an x850xt

And 7800GT Slightly overclocked=7800GTX and 7800GTX slightly overclocked = x1800xt etc etc....its all the same I think you have to take it how all the cards perform aat stock and max air OC
