Hi,

am thinking of getting only one graphics card to use with asus maximus IV gene z68 motherboard. my budget is £500 and am looking at evga gtx 580 sc and ati radeon hd 5970 or any other cards you guy's can recommend me. will only be playing on a projector on 1080p and want the highest settings on games and a very good fps thanks

deffo a decent 580 man and one with big VGA mem

I think the maximum is 3GB for the GTX 580. EVGA has one which you may take a look at.

thank you again for your reply will look in to this. Just was looking at the Silverstone TJ08-E wanted something small but powerful at the same time

Actually that's another great case. That one would be a very compact mATX case. You have to be careful with the height of the RAM if you're going to use large coolers and also hard drive mounting will be a bit tricky. With a cooler like the D14 mounted, you won't be able to fit any hard drives into the main and bottom hard drive cages. You'd have to mount them in the optical bays with 3.5 to 5.25" mounting brackets. Also, you'll need to think about shorter length PSUs (within 160mm will be the max) if you plan for mounting optical drives as well.

thank you again for your reply. should i go for the Silverstone TJ08-E or Fractal Design Define Mini which one is the better one out of these two

You're very welcome. I think if you want a bit more space to work with an more possibilities, the Fractal Define Mini will be great. It's really just a shorter version of the R3, as it only comes with 4 PCI slots standard to mATX form. The TJ08-E will be great if you want something light to use, but still powerful. You'll have to consider the cooler that you'll use as it may conflict with hard drive mounting and RAM height. They're both wonderful cases.

Thank you again for your reply. I will be adding the D14 and for the psu was getting an corsair ax850 just in case if i go sli down the road and for ram Mushkin Redline Ridgeback ddr3 2133 or any other good ram. Will this work

Hi

Sandy Bridge supports up to 2133MHz speeds so they will work, however you will have to do some tweaking to get them to work at their rated speed.

Good choice with the PSU, but you might be cutting it close if you run 2 580's in the future.

Thank you again for your reply. What do you think of the LIAN LI PC-A04B is this also a good case. Because i want some thing slick and sexy for a case and fits all the parts of a full atx case

me thinks you want to play the best graphical games and frankly a 580 wont cut the cheese you want, you need a 590

For 1920 x 1080 a 580 is more than capable of running all of the latest games.

EDIT: Have you considered the Gigabyte GTX 580 Super Overclocked Edition. It is an awesome card that comes factory overclocked and can be overclocked further with the awesome triple fan cooler. It will also be quieter than most/all of the other 580's out there.
