silent square evo

hey dudes. i just got me a bargain, an i7 2600k for 80quid.

but, i have this asus silent square evo cooler, the tech specs on the asus website point to it being used mainly in the c2d era, right now its sitting on top of my i3 2100, having ran occt linpack with avx enabled, and it shows temps doesnt go over 49C

now i know these two chips are different beasts, and as my board is a junk P.O.S i wont be overclocking in the near future, im just checking you guys would be with my in saying this cooler will suffice.

its really quiet, and well as yet ive not encountered any heat issues, sooo., although i will be looking to get a new cooler and case when i finish the council tax (robbing bastards) in feb. but if you guys would think its ok to run it with this then all is cool in groovy town.

thanks.

2600k will run slightly hotter than the 2100 and since no OC'ing then it should easily keep it under 60C at worst from the OCCT Linpack test.

yeah figured as much, although i would love to just buy a new one to go with it. just a lot of monies all at the same time. cheers for the input. :)

Just make sure you manually set the volts, then under volt it too

you think it will struggle, or for a general be safe rule of thumb? but will look at it when i get the precious. thanks for the input :)

/edit-update. well i received it, installed it, jezuus... idles at 40c but do pretty much anything at all, and its rocketing to 85c erm... im gonna need a bigger boat!

/edit-update1 wasnt impressed, went to shop, nothing of any type of beastly-ness to compensate, bought some new fresh tim, stripped cleaned and reseated, bang idles 36c, linpack 69c solid. will just have to do for now, bring on the feb payday madness, new box, cooler and hmm something else, maybe... dunno yet. new board, this one is a total p.o.s.
