Silent PSU

Enlighten me!

Replaced all my case fans, with the Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000, which are now running at around 6/700 RPM but now I want to change my Cooler Master Real Power M620 to something a bit more quiet.

Should I get a Be Quiet or a Corsair or is there anything else you would recommend?

Thanks all :D:D

Corsairs perform better than the Be Quiets and and pretty quiet too.

Look for the new HX750/850 matey.

Haha, you asked me to make my own thread then replied in it :D

I think I will go with the HX 850

Thanks

Both are very good dude, Im deffo a corsair fan, everyone of my rigs has a corsair.

The are the kings of PSU's atm.

Noise wise? Do they do it for you?

Cant hear them tbh, you do have fans on uber low moving next to no air though matey

Do you mean I should make my fans faster?

My PC seems to run at fine temps though

Just saying your fans are very quiet.

You wont get a quieter PSU that performs anywhere near as good as the 850 though.

I was going for silence because it is always on and I watch movies etc in the room plus AI Power is running which slows down the CPU significantly anyway

The corsair will be quieter, what you need to ask yourself is the cost of the upgrade worth that drop in Db.

Doesnt sound like you are clocking your rig or have anything massive in there if you are hell bent on silence so do you really need an 850w?

But the higher the wattage the lower the load, therefore the lower the fan's speed

I want to have crossfire in the future too and just thought I might as well do it right :D

thats a loose term though dude, the 850w will probs make the same ammount of noise as say a 1500watter. It only really counts when you are getting near the limits of the psu i.e 80%+

I just want to future proof myself, and the money ins't a problem at the minute, so 850 should be ok, and I heard the 850 is newer too

Is the tx 650 quiet?

From the TX850 review:

"Although it's kind of hard to comment on the noise output of the unit when you've got a 1600w load tester whirring away in the background and several high power Delta fans moving air around the hot box, the TX850 certainly seemed to be extremely quiet all the way up to a 700w load. Only when pushed past this point did the fan start to spin up to counteract the heat in our ambient load tests."

SHould be a similar story for the TX650 in that it'll be quiet up to about 80% of its load and then start spinning up the fan.

Nice review! I don't think it mentioned the fan and noise like other reviews but it says it all

Yeah since we moved to our new load testing equipment (back in January) its become almost impossible to actually measure or record the noise output of a PSU as the load testers are stupidly noisy.

I do however, put my ear right up to the fan on each one during testing and can tell whether it is Very Noisy, A bit Noisy, Average or Quiet. That's about as scientific as it gets tho :p

Was it quiet?

HX850/750 are quiet yes. They pump out little heat and are very efficient PSU's. Combine that with a 135mm fan and u have near silence :)
