Sid Meier's Civilization VI is available to play for free for the next two days

Still same unless you get the dlc which changed a few things, but i couldn't get into it either, this whole district system is just not working for me.

I'm the same I've tried to get into it several times but just don't enjoy it as much as 5 so I uninstalled it and went back to 5

That's how every Civ is at launch. But with this title in general the DLC is very expensive for not much content(features/cost ratio). That's the only thing holding it back for me

TBH I have enjoyed Civ 6. Haven't played it as much as Civ V though.

As far as I can tell, Civ 6 offers a lot more variety when it comes to each Civilization's abilities and the district system can make warfare a lot more challenging as district pillaging is a horrendous thing have happen to you.

Rise and Fall's loyalty system is also a big deal, as well as golden/dark ages. Each has the ability to change the direction of a game. While a lot of these changes don't sound big, I do like how they twist the game.

It is a strange one, as I don't know if I prefer Civ V or Civ VI, as both play very differently. I definitely prefer Civ VI if I plan on not using the domination victory type though.

It's the districts thing that put me off as well. Maybe on a later date I'll give it another try.

I like the extra tactical layer that it brings to the game. Positioning and protection is important and it really forces players to plan ahead when building their cities. I think they are a good addition, all things considered.

Offensively, their presence also allows you to damage civilizations even when you are unable to capture any of their cities. Scorched earth military actions are a lot more viable.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this expansion plays. I'm too busy for a new Civ game ATM, so it will probably be a while before I pick it up.

The other thing that really bugs me about VI is the split research tree's, now you have to research policies separately and the tech tree has some really weird splits going on, where it does not offer a lot of freedom if you want to go a certain route but have to change due to events or war, this is especially true for the space race, tech, can rush a part of it but then you have to catch up way back at steel tech to continue the rest.

It looks like we all have similar issues with 6. The tech trees was another negative for me too. The main thing for me is that all these differences have left me unable to put my finger on the pace of the game. I have no idea where I stand compared to other civs. I could be falling behind, something I would notice in 5, but I can't "feel" that in 6.
