It`s one of those many little things that can add together to give an overall, perceived, performance boost.
Lap.
Type of thermal goo.
Application style of thermal goo
1 cooler over another.
wc block brand.
wc setup.
Type of mobo used.
Type of memory used. (and standard of)
.. and some other things.
.. all these things add a little % to what u can possibly get. If 1 of them isn`t respected, it `can` make some of the others a waste of time.
Arguements sake, if the whole installation is religiously done, u could get... I dunno 5% performance gain ? if u lucky ? temps in general would probably slide 5-10% (all things above considered).
.. then u could be thrown all out of whack cos the cpu u got isn`t the best out of the batch.
It`s a hobby thing, it`s a perfectionist thing, on it`s own I don`t think it`s worth the trouble. Combined with all the other things, plus having a great interest in doing it - I think it`s worth it.
