Shitty PSU suspiscion confirmed!

Well the guys over at XS have confirmed it... My psu is a big steaming pile!

Someone noticed that the 5v rail is only 28a. For a psu to be worth a shit in any overclocking environment it has to be near 50a! I think we've nailed the problem, lol.

Yup, u better get that done!

Does the 600w PowerStream have a 20 or 24pin ATX connector?

It's a 24, w00tage. Can't wait to see if it helps out mah overclock!

Does 939 require a 24 pin connector?

754 has a bloody 20 pin connector so I have to use a massive adaptor :(

AFAIK, anything with PCI-E requires a 24-Pin PSU :(

I think u can run em with a 20 pin as well... Just the last 4 pins on the mobos connector arent used. I've seen it before and I can't remember where, it could have been something completely different though. All I know is that I saw a 20 pin atx cable plugged into a 24 pin slot.

haha kempez. enermax has a 2 part atx ocnnector so u can easily slide off the extra four pins LOL.

@ frag, damn, my enermax prolly spanks that psu, as i have 30A on the +5, and thats an independent rail so it can supply all of its 30a without affecting teh rest of the psu LOL.

get an enermax dude, c'MON.

From Their Site

All In One meets all platforms' requirement-both desktop and dual

processor server/workstation systems, including two power supply form factors"ATX12V" for ATX & BTX and "EPS12V"forEEB, CEB.[/b]

"All In One"family power supplies offer best cooling, most stable power output, low noise operation, and actual energy saving for power users'high-end systems. In addition, two split PCI Express power connectors fully support dual graphics card technology to output the ultimate performance.

<LI>NVIDIA SLI certified power supply

<LI>ATX 12V V2.01 :

Support latest P4 Prescott and Athlon 64/64 FX processors based systems: P4 main boards that use 875 (Canterwood) and 865 (Springdale) chipsets, and also fully support power requirements for platforms using chipsets like Intel 925 (Alderwood) or 915 (Grantsdale) and next generation CPU.Intel approved

<LI>Smart Fan

After PC shuts down, cooling fans keep running for at least 2 minutes to effectively cool down parts and hardware inside PSU and PC case. Thus, ensure longer product life time of power supply and hardware inside PC case.

<LI>Dual Fan

The best cooling method for PC system, and is strongly suggested by AMD.

<LI>Separate 12V rails[/b]

Independent 12V rails supply to MB/CPU and drives in order to provide stable and clean current to noise-sensitive devices, such as: CPU, add-on cards.

<LI>SATA power connectors [/b]

Connect your system to the faster SATA interface for better performance.

<LI>Manual and automatic fan speed control [/b]

Manual fan speed control to keep the balance between cooling effect and acoustic noise. Automatic fan speed adjustment to prevent system overheat.

<LI>Reliability[/b]

OCP, UVP, OVP, OLP, OTP, and SCP circuits ensure system well guarded from any dangers. Maximize safety for your hardware and valuable data.

<LI>Ring Core[/b]

Effectively prevents electro-magnetic pulse leaking from switching power supply to appliances that are being attached to the same power source, i.e. AC wall plug.

<LI>Active PFC function[/b]

PF value 0.99 under condition of 230VAC/50Hz at full load.

<LI>Fan Monitor function[/b]

RPM signal of 8cm fan is provided for MB detection.

<LI>Silence[/b]

Acoustic noise is successfully reduced with two fans giving more airflow in less rpm and smooth mechanical design of fan guards.

PFC too, over 70% efficiency.

That was probably me you were thinking about frag. My P4 DFI board had a 24-Pin ATX connector, but it only had AGP, so therefore there was no need for the extra 4 pins, and i could use a 20-pin atx without any probs ;)

That could have been it! Im not getting a damn enermax! Ocz is the only company that offers the 5v rail i desire.

not rly. just that enermax has been kickass for me so i reccomend them. everyone who i've reccomended them to and has bought them has loved them. my dad has an antec, ye its gr8 (truepower 430w) but it doesnt have the nice creature-comforts and goodies mine has. pv has an enermax powering his monster system of lights, accessories, etc, with no prob. i had a 350w enermax powering my p4 system with no prob!.

they're gr8 psu's and i stand by them, there's no fan-boying for psu's.

just that these newcastles use about 130w idle, and 168w load, (roughly) and out out ~89w of thermal power, i needed a better psu.
