Sharp has showcased a new prototype IGZO 27 inch 8K 120Hz HDR display at CEATEC Japan, offering a resolution that is 4x that of a standard 4K display at double the framerate.

It's a prototype, as pointed out in the article. It will be years before we get them in any kind of consumer ready quantity. 4k isn't even mainstream, introducing another standard is counter intuitive to adoption rates of higher quality TVs. Not to mention prices on these would be laughable!

I'm with you there Dice I'm hoping new panels like this will be out by Q1 2017. Obviously the gsync/freesync in one panel is just dreaming NVidia would never allow it
