Shame on you NZXT a well shoddy case I have received

I have been saying this for the last year lol, nice to see that someone agrees with me

I really like the aesthetics of the Phantom, but I wouldn't want to move it about a lot. Not the worst case I ever built in though. That prize goes to Thermaltake V9, that case is literally laughable.

Careful with the anti NZXT talk in these boards though. I gave my opinion about the Switch in another thread and that didn't sit well with most people :D

yeah most of them defend NZXT because the cases are cheap(ish)... dont think they realise that when you build a case of flimsy thin metal and crappy plastic it will be cheap

Well for me, at least in the case of the Switch, it's not so much flimsyness as it is the fact that it looks like a $1 plastic trash can from Walmart.

The phantom can be as crappy as it wants to be because I love the aesthetics.

Wile I think That NZXT's Phantom is an absolute terrible case astheticaly, just a moulded plastic pile stuck to a steel chassis, that resembles an Alienware case, and that always adds TACK to anything.

But they are still great cases. I just brought a NZXT 210 Source for my sons computer and it was a pleasure to work with, very nice build quality, and it only cost £30. I do think that this was just a case of bad shipping, or the retailer sending out cases that have been damaged in storage or an ex display case. What retailer was it if you dont mined me asking, I assume not being as you where fast to shun NZXT for this.

I see what you did there.

Now while discussing taste is something you can't really do, I'm still going to tell you you're wrong. The original Phantom is a looker, choose your color and it's right in there.

Actually, you stated that you had to do some serious modding to the Switch to watercool it. Others, myself included, corrected you. I have a 360 rad sitting just above the optical bays, no modding. I even pointed out all the locations where rads could go, and you still spewed utter nonsense about needing to modify the case to watercool.

You're entitled to your opinion on aesthetics, quality, etc. But lying about functionality is another thing.

Hey guys,

A good amount of you may know me. My name is Rob and I am part of the product development team at NZXT. It is not unimaginable for some people to dislike our cases, so by no means am I "butthurt" by these comments. Like other manufacturers, we use a good amount of plastic. As far as to how flimsy and crappy it is I personally do not believe us to be terribly low on the spectrum of quality. For the claim that our cases are cheap and made with "flimsy thin metal", I implore you to take a pair of calipers to our steel and our competitors and specifically to the Switch 810, compare the chassis design.

@Malarky13, I am sorry for all the troubles you have experienced with the Phantom 410. I assure you these are far from normal, but we are absolutely listening and we will be notifying the factory about this regardless if it was a shipping issue. If you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact XNine here on the forums or send me an email directly Rob.Teller@nzxt.com.

@Everyone else, I'd love to hear your comments, suggestions, and experiences, good and bad.

I appreciate the comments coming from someone from NZXT but your cases are fairly flimsy. The flimsy is not in the steel you use, it is how the plastic is stuck to the steel. I have a 400R, and by no means is a durable, amazingly built, high end case. BUT what it does have that none of the NZXT cases had was a solid feel to them were the plastic touched the metal. And further more the plastic you use is in the kindest sense is pure garbage. I can knock on the plastic on the 400r and it feels absolutely 100% solid, it feels like the plastic goes all the way through and feels like it could take a bullet. The plastic from on the Switch is absolutely awful, i don't know if it's the paint or what but it feels soooo cheap. It just seems the cases are not put together well.

BTW every NZXT case I have owned creeks.

I have the switch sat in front of me, and in no way do i look at it and go "hmm its a bit flimsy" I have to give all the panels a good tug to pop them off which i like.

By what way do you guys mean flimsy? As in popping the plastic panels off and they flex? Plastic does that, specifically if its pretty flat. Would you rather it was aluminium? I wouldnt, Because then it would cost more than what it does. Granted i only paid £80 for mine which is an absolute bargain.

I have both the front and top of mine modded where alot of the plastic is removed and replaced with mesh, which perhaps gives it a strengthened feel to me. But with 2 Rads, a CPU & GPU loop with the coolant in, im glad it doesnt way any more than it does because its damn heavy.

I think the reason why your looking at this and thinking its tack compared to other plastic cases is because its a gloss effect rather than a matt rubbery look.

The front bays make beefy rads with beefy fans a pain in the ass in that case. I was unable to make the setup I wanted in that case, even though it's being called the be all, end all water cooling case.

Mounting a 240 in the front instead of in the floor also gave me a bad surprise, something about screws holes not lining up. In the end I walked away from the case, and did something I knew would work.

In no way did you correct me, as I am correct in my observations. Saying I'm spewing nonsense is just you being rude sir, and as I said, I shall not continue this.

That's probably right. I don't like the soft touch feel of BitFenix cases though. The gloss look of the Phantom sits really well with me. White reminds me of a storm trooper, black reminds me of Darth Vader and red reminds me of a race car. However I don't think the old "red ones go faster" counts when overclocking. Oh and pink reminds me of... Ponies?
