Selling a comp

Well, I think I'm going to be able to sell a comp to someone in Virginia. Budget is around $1k or so. This decent setup?

This totals to a bout $955 + $45 shipping to make it $1k or so. Shipping to the person will probably be around $30-$50 (confirm?). We're going to decide on a final price later.

Also, could you walk me through the shipping process?

Anything to keep in mind?

Best way to protect both of us?

What if I send it, it arrives, and something doesn't work? What's the best contingency plan?

I'll probably think of more questions later but it's early right now.

Thanks.

Firstly, bump up the DVD burner to something better than a Lite-On, that's bound to last about 1/2 of one DVD before it takes a giant dump on your chest.

Second, an Enermax PSU? Maybe if u were trying to put together a system for under $500 I could see using one. Try and find a Tagan, Fortron, or Antec PSU in the same price range.

Third, Corsair w/ Ultra-D = :nono:

Fourth, 7600GT? Can't find a nice 7800GT on sale somewhere?

Fifth, save yourself some money and go for like a 3200 or 3500 then overclock it to 3700+ or higher speeds. Easy way to cut some money out to use in more critical areas.

The case looks decent, BT is definately a good aircooling choice as well. 80gb hd seems a little on the small side but if that's all that fits in the budget then I guess it'll hafta do :)

Just my $.02 :wavey:

hmm whats wrong with the corsair ? If you are not planning to OC your PC ? I mean i have the C2 PT (PC3200) and it works just fine (since one year now).

Alright, lez see:

DVD Burner, hmm... There's a NEC, Samsung, and Sony one in that price range, which of those?

I can bump the PSU up to a TP2 550W for bout $5 more.

Hyper has Corsair Value Select and he's running a SLI-DR

7800 series prices are NOT going down, so a GT is out of the price range.

I'm possibly hoping for a KAB3E which can seem to OC possibly to 3ghz at stock volts, push farther, and switch it with my current 3700+ :D

Any notes on shipping and contigency plans?

Thanks. :)

Alright, how bout this? About the HDD space, the person said that they haven't even filled a 40gb yet, so 80 should be perfectly fine. Yes I know, you said not to use the Corsair, for this, price compared to the OCZ is just about the same so those 2 are interchangeable. I'll ask the person what they want. The GTO has a $50 rebate so this setup will cost just about the same as the 1st one.

Frag, that PSU will NOT power that computer at all. Those GTO's are like a slightly trimmed XL. 450+

Enermax PSU's are very good. I'd get the Whisper. Their Liberty line is a very popular choice among enthusiests. The 620w Liberty can easily handle 2x X1900XTX's in CF :O. Now that's a PSU :D

That isn't a gripe towards Antec. Their PSU's are great too, especially their Truepower line. They just don't have any "enthusiest geared" PSU out atm.

My 2 cents are to change the ram to mushkin or g.skill

Also make sure you write up a contract and a legal agreement. You don't want to be responsible if their computer breaks, you want them to send the stuff to the manu. and not back to you.

Hmm... I could bump the PSU up to either the Whisper or the 550W TP2, and use these for memory I suppose... Would add about $50 to the cost.

Edit: or theseI know they don't OC too well, but 2gb and low timings <shrugs>

Edit2: well, Monarch has shuffled their prices around a bit, so if I get the Whisper and the OCZ Plat, it's $100 more upfront than 1st quote but has 2 $50 rebates, bringing the price to just about the same as the 1st quote.

So I suppose I should ship the receipts also or what? Cause obviously the manufacturer needs the receipt for RMA... Or do I just request an RMA, and tell the person when to send it? But then the replacement would end up coming to me?

Any other tips?

Thanks.

why not just buy parts over a period of a month or two..

wait for sales on what you or the buyer relli wants and buy them cheap!

if ur not in a rush.. i suggest u do that.. because buying the wrong or different part could mean a huge difference in the future...

be patient with comp buying.. i learned my lesson when i bought all my parts in one day..

That PSU is nearly overkill for that system, don't listen to Nick. And he also doesn't need an "enthusiast" geared psu as the system isn't even going to be clocked from the looks of it, it's quite plain actually.

Don't waste the money on a bigger PSU, it's definately not needed.

Dude, I'm not friggin dumb and you know it. As I've said, it's not mine <shrugs>

And Frag, this comp is going to be clocked as far as I can push it. That's going to be part of my selling lines ;) Probably won't spend as much time as I would if the comp were mine, but enough to get the most out of it without too much tweaking.

I talked to a buddy of mine, Sneaky. He said that PSU will just barely power it at stock, and it most likely wouldn't handle OC'ing too well..

The TP430.
