Seeking advice on a potential setup.....

Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right place to post this kind of question but anyway…..

About a week ago I build my first PC (as below) and as you can see I’ve made some pretty poor choices on some of the components (the mobo for one) but unfortunately I’m stuck with them for awhile now

My rig:

CMaster Pretorian 730 Black

ASUS P5N32 SLI PREMIUM WIFI

600W ENERMAX EG701AXVE 2PCIE

Intel E6600 Core2Duo 2.40GHz

250G SEAGATE SATA2 ST3250620AS

BFG 8800 GTS

Windows MCE

The reason for posting, I’m currently running it through a Samsung 27” HD ready LCD TV.

I’m looking to have the tv as the main ‘hub’ for all uses (xbox 360, TV, DVD/music playback) so they all kinda link together.

Anyone have any advice/suggestions on the arrangement i should go for, and which connections I should use for what? Or any additions I should get (sound/tv cards etc etc)

I know it’s a very vague question but I don’t think I’m getting the most out of it at the mo and I’ve never been that creative with this type of thing….

Thanks for reading

Well im nto too sure about the VIVO options on the 8800 but i think its pretty similar to my 7800. The vivo cable supplied will give you nearly every connector for TV. Are you planning to run the TV as your only monitor?

I would deffinatly get a sound card too.

Well the TV has freeview built into it, so i doubt i could get the same quality from a tv card?

I'll be using it as both a TV and a monitor i think

lol. sorry i havnt been clear.

ViVo = Video in, Video out. Its already built in to your 8800GTS. You dont need to buy a card. Its handles all the input and output connections used for TVs (ie, Svideo & composite) so that you can run a TV from your card. Normaly this is 2nd to a monitor.

Ive no expriance with HD tvs (as imo there a ripoff comapred to monitors), but i assumesd that you were connecting through the vivo connector on your card to the tv. Or do you use a DVI connector?

oh right, i understand now :)

I run it through a DVI connector.

I agree about the HDTV thing. It was something i brought as a package with the 360
