Need Advice On A New Monitor

Hello all,

I'm sure this has been asked a lot of times now, I'm looking to buy a new monitor to replace my two 24 inch monitors with my current setup i have to have one monitor in Portrait mode and the other in Landscape mode with the Portrait monitor i finding that my productivity have completely fallen off so i would like to go back to a single monitor setup. The Portrait monitor is really annoying me also i use a Monitor stand

I have been looking at some 32 inch monitors and a 29 inch Ultrawide so my question is should i buy a 32 inch or buy the 29 inch Ultrawide main use will be for gaming but i do watch a lot of YouTube & Twitch, I do like on the LG monitors that they have Screen split

My budget is no higher than $450 Australian, I understand in that price range the choices are not much or is there like a third party Software where you have split the screens i'm not really sure i don't know that much about monitors.

Thanks

Yeah i have already looked at those ones, maybe i have kinda answered my own question since the main thing is gaming i might just be better off getting the LG one.

When i was looking a while ago, I'm sure i found another one with Screen split but i think it was called a different name but i can't remember or maybe this is only an LG thing and no one else does it.

My GPU is a GTX980Ti but atm i'm not interested in Freesync or Gsync i just want an larger screen to make my setup a bit more tidier i kinda forgot about Display Fusion.

The ASUS VA32AQ is not a low cost monitor here it's in the price range of $475-500 and that's more that what i want to spend atm, No one local to me has that ASUS monitor i really don't want to pay like $35 for shipping.

Yeah also another problem seems like not everyone here stocks that monitor if it was in my price range i would have had it on my list, ASUS monitors always seem to have a mark up compared to other brands.

AOC do a monitor with screen split - it's an LG panel so they function exactly the same. IIRC that was around $800 though (34" Ultrawide QHD so a bargain for what it was)
For $399 have a look at the Viewsonic QHD 32" https://www.pccasegear.com/products/37596/viewsonic-vx3209-2k-32in-wqhd-ips-monitor

Bang for buck it's a good deal. No idea about quality though. It's IPS but 8ms GTG may put you off if you're into twitchy FPS games.

Personally I love the ultrawides but I think 29" may be a little too short. It's essentially just a stretched 24"

You could save a little longer and get a nice 34" running 2560*1080 that would be the same pixel count but a much larger display. Maybe $700. Unfortunately once you go up to 3440*1440 you're getting closer to $1K but the displays do look awesome.

Depends if you prefer higher pixel density over size.

I have been doing some thinking i kinda like the idea of using a 1440p monitor now so i'm going to pass on the 29 inch from LG.

@jimma47
For me this is kinda hard to explain what i want to do so here goes atm all i want to do is downgrade to one monitor but to have an larger screen it's going to be less heat for a start and less cables that i have to worry about cause i'm very anal when it comes to cable management but i still like the idea of having PIP or PBP.

To answer your question about FPS i do play quite a few FPS games but mostly TF2 i'm using a ASUS PB248Q Professional Monitor which is not ideal to play games cause of the 1920x1200 which has a Response Time : 6ms (Gray to Gray) but i have gotten used to it in the last 3.5 years.

I should also add that this is only going to be a Temp monitor until i can get what i want but like i said above i want to go back to a single monitor but larger screen.

TBH If it were me I'd hold off and just use what you have till you buy the monitor you want as you are just going to lose money buying an interim monitor save your pennies and get a nice 34" screen

@Excalabur50
I can understand where your coming from but as i said this current setup is just not working for me i have put up with it since January of this year.

I'm not one of these people that can put money aside and keep it for like 6 months it might sound stupid, It comes down to it that i have to do it for my sake cause other wise it's going to drive me up the wall.

I truly thought it was going to work out but it hasn't.

The way i'm looking at it is i can try and sell these two monitors that i'm using now and get back some of the money i know i may not get much back but at least it's better than nothing.

Thanks again

Selling the monitors to get something back is a good idea even if you only get a 100 or two at least that might help you buy something a bit better

Yea, I guess to some people i do things back to front i always buy what i want first and then try and sell those items, This way seems to work out for me.

The way i was looking at it is i buy the new monitor and then sell the old ones try and get $100 for them and in the long run the new one only cost me $300 which is better than $400.

I don't think i would get $200 for both i'm only aiming for $100 for both.
