Hi guys; I haven't been around for a while, job / house responsibility's sucked all my free time / money away and have only just got my computer bits out of storage. I hope you are all well and still making things go fast with aplomb! .. Bad news is my beast really cant fit in my new room and it deafens me if there is no music / gaming going on. Ive thought about it for a week or so and I'm thinking of going down the SFF route; specifically the shuttle SN95G. Ive got to have some clocking options (the lack of them just seemed upsetting as I was lifting the prommie into the attic) so have decided to get an fx 55 and some nice sticks to play with. Ive been looking at ebay for the chip prices and it seems the ones going cheapest are the oldest cores, but not by much of a margin. Which core was prevalent when they initialy came out, and if I'm going for a heavy memory clock will the newer chip revisions and samller manufactureing process make any difference? Excited A64 novice - gorby

Scorchio is selling his FX55 San Diego Week 13 still I believe.

I have this same chip and week, clocks like a beaut! 3.5Ghz on Phase, better than most FX55's on standard Single Phase coolers.

Think he's looking for about £450 which in my books is WELL worth EVERY penny. Latest core for the 55's and the best week = best chips lol.

Well as im taking the prommie out of the equation I guess my cpu has got to pick up the bill so to speak :) I think I'm going to bide my time a little, wait for the happy children to spend their Christmas cpu tokens and sell their old CPU's in Jan :P

Some from ebay seem to be going for 300 quid or so after conversion from dollars

but if i end up waiting until Jan's pay check ill be snapping one up immediately :)

-thx

It's not a bad thing if you get the right stepping - some 55's are howlers (as are some 57's) wk13 is the best you can possibly get for Sand Diego cored units - easily good for 3.1ghz or more on water alone ;)

Buy the right one to avoid disappointment - my 2p Gorby mate, but if your gonna spend the cash better to get the right one and pay a bit more than a bad one which you will more than likley sell (speaking from experience).
