Seal String concern

I just got a mobo and prometeia from a friend of mine.

When he removed the prometeia block from the mobo, it of course

had seal string stuck to both but not a good bead on either.

(to be expected of course)

My question is, would it be ok to just try and lay a new string over whats left on the mobo,

or is that a bad idea?

I Don't know if too much is a bad thing or not.

Like an artist - it's always good to use a clean canvas.

But given the compressable nature of seal string, a little remanant would be okay - having said that I always clean mine 100% using a ball of used string and dabbing the remains makes a fairly simple process.
