Seagate Momentus Hybrid Drive. Advice please?

Hi all. I'm at the end of my tether with my crappy 7200Rpm Hitatchi Deskstar primary hard drive and I want to upgrade to something a little less noisey, but I also want a bit more speed! For 1/4 of the price of a decent sized SSD, it sounds pretty appealing. I was looking at the Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid drive and it took my fancy. It's had a 500Gb capacity with 4Gb of SSD memory for that speed boost. It says it's a laptop drive but what I was wondering is if that it would it be suitable for a desktop PC? Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Please watch the benchmarks.

I have used them there not bad lil drives and yes you can use them in a desktop but you will need to have the 2.5 to 3.5 adapter since these are rotational drives they need mounting (unlike SSD;s no moving parts) I paid 149$ each (had 2) for mine imho it wasnt worth it the benefit of the 4gb cache just isnt enough to warrant the cost. I turned around and bought 4 640GB WD Blacks for a raid that blew the hybrids out of the water. Plus the extra 2.06Tb of space lol for 239$ which is less than the 2 hybrids

anywho hope this helps

Cheers for the response mate! Yeah, I only want the one and I'm going to use my 1Tb drive as storage. Just gets way too noisey when loading things!

£85 for one seems reasonable.
