Scientists have created a battery that can be recharged without degradation, with testing so far showing that it hasn't degraded after over 200,000 cycles. Let's hope that this technology can make it into usable products.

inb4 this gets bought and / or disappeared by the usual suspects (as with what happened to that super fast charging capacitor style battery that got announced by a girl some time ago, completely disappeared off the face of the earth). No degradation batteries are going to be like non-rusting cars...

Yeah, it really sucks that people suck. It is all about the rich trying to stay rich for a long as possible.

I hate it that so many things are about the bottom line rather than progress.

Just look at intel right now, making billions a year and then letting go of over 10% of their staff just because shareholders are concerned that their profits are not growing fast enough.

I really do hope that someday I will be able to buy a phone for my dad that doesn't have the battery die in a few years, or a tablet for that matter. Then I guess a lot of people would never need to buy a new one I guess.....

That's not entirely true... they are only making money in a couple of there markets. Everything else is losing money. No sense in keeping on to those markets that lose money when that money can be redirected into areas that are more profitable that can make them grow to eventually add more jobs. Sucks but that's just smart business.
