SAPPHIRE Introduces HD 2600 X2 DUAL GPU CARD

From what im reading (and im kinda tired) did i get this correct that you can XFire both chips on that single card? So technicaly you should be able to put 2 in Xfire and Xfire the 2 chips together to make a 4way Xfire? I wonder what kinda performance that would bring. Im all for dual GPU cards really, (Even though they have sucked i thikn its cool). My question is, when will we see dual core GPUs?

There will probably never be "dual core" GPUs. THe reason is that a GPU is basically already many little "cores" all working together.

How about 2 of the same "little cores" working together. Never say never in the computer world. Microsoft already has a touch screen table thingy that can tell you whats in your cup lol.

What I was trying to say was that a GPU is highly parallel already. So a dual core GPU is rather illogical given the needless performance hit over a larger single core GPU.

Although this is based on 1 card, will this act like 2 cards are in the pc as far as the installer is concerned - driver wize ?

And with Cat drivers, already held together with black tape, will there be a regular crossfire driver requirement - or will it require a patch to utilize the fact both cards are on 1.

Be interesting to see some real world results from this card appears to me to be an attempt to leap into the 8800gtx/ultra bracket. `Look it`s 1 card`.
