Hello there! I wonder what motherboard and ram i should get together with the 2500k. I want to be able to overclock it as much as possible obviously but i dont have a fortune to spend on the hardware unfortunately

. My budget is around 450£. What should i get? I heard Muskin and G-Skill ram is great BUT, you can't buy them in Sweden. Atleast not Muskin, not sure about G-skill *BIG SADFACE*

Also, i use a NH-D14 so the ram cant have a heatsink thats too tall

Asus P8P67 LE has what you need if you're on a tight budget, and try Corsair XMS3 or Crucial Ballistix for RAM if either of them are available in Sweden, not sure what Kingston's alternative would be, not so familiar with them.

Thanks for the reply

i5 2500k: 117.67 GBP

4gb Corsair XMS3 1600mhz, 7-8-7-20: 59.90 GBP

Asus P8P67 LE: 120.67 GBP

Total of 298.27 GBP so i still have abit to go on the budget. How about AsRock Fatal1ty p67 professional or Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4? I've also been looking at the sabertooth but i guess its not very much of a OC board right?

dont cheap out on the board mate as it is the backbone of the system, a good mobo will get the most out of any cpu while a cheap mobo will hold back a good cpu.

i wouldnt look at any bellow the ud4 tbh.

On the contrary the Sabertooth is generally a good overclocker because it uses military grade components, at least the x58 was surprisingly good at overclocking because of this. UD4 I don't know much about, Fatal1ty is a similar story but I do know that it's supposed to use some of the better components you can get so I would say that it's probably a good choice also.

the asrock Fatal1ty is pretty good tbh but not worth the money. Get ud4 or the sabretooth or the msi ones or the asus p8p67 ones.

Thats alot of them... But i like the UD4. Good price and relly good looking, and as ive understood it (and please correct me if im wrong) its a relly good mobo to overclok with(?)

Ok, here are 4 motherboards from 4 different companies that i've been looking on, and they are all within my budget. Throw a vote on wich one you think will be best suit for me and a note why I should get it. Keep in mind, im looking for a board that supports as much overclocking as possible for a 24/7 use! I will most likely go for the Corsair XMS3 1600mhz, 7-8-7-20. This rig will be used as a gaming rig.

1. ASRock Fatal1ty P67 Professional

2. Asus Sabertooth P67

3. Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD4

4. MSI P67A-GD80

Other hardware:

Case: NZXT Phantom White

Cooling: Noctua NH-D14

Power: Plexgear 600w 80+

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 460 1gb OC

CPU: Intel i5 2500k

(Memory: 4gb Corsair XMS3 1600mhz, 7-8-7-20 1.65v)

Thanks for all the replies!!

Honestly I think it's actually down to whichever you like the look of best now I've looked at them all, I can knock off the ASRock just because it's supposedly Asus cheaper line, don't quote me on that though

Plex-who? Never heard of them before, 560 is out of budget I guess?

Im sticking with that hardware.. Im just going to buy memory, mobo and processor. I don't know much about Plexgear either. Maybe its something you only can get in Sweden(?) But its a good PSU. It got higer thermal efficiency and lower ripple then Corsair TX 750 for instance. Not expensive aswell, budget maybe but it does the work. Just under 58 GBP. It's not modular but i can live with that. Plenty of space for the cables in the Phantom
